The Baymont Hotel (2024)
Dan Bell
13 in x 19 image framed in a 25 in x 19 in matted acrylic frame.
First print artist proof giclée produced from scan of original polaroid artwork.
Signed and dated.
The Baymont Hotel started as a “polaroid in distress” artwork in 2024 which was later put through a high resolution scanning process and edited for printing on archival cotton rag paper. This print is the artist proof first print. It was a test to see how it would look on paper as well as framed. The original sale of these giclées happened over a year ago. These giclées are very scarce and very difficult to acquire now. This print was hanging in my office for over a year.

“After emerging from one of the darkest periods of my life experiencing both mental and physical misery I realized that being truly healthy required reestablishing myself as an artist. This collection of works represents a very profound renewal period for me. The end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026 has been a whirlwind of loss and trauma but I promised myself that I would never regress back to that dark place that kept me prisoner for so long. My mind is healthy again and I’m able to deal with the challenges life tends to throw at all of us from time to time. Recently I set up my studio to create new things. I went into my archives and found these prints. At the time I printed these images they didn’t pass the grade for me. They needed something more so I put them away for later. Looking through my supplies I found paints and dyes and realized that manipulating these images with those materials would bring them to where I wanted them to be. I have created art that speaks to me, my kind of art and I’m so proud of these new works. Looking at them now I know I accomplished something that I thought was lost. They exemplify a healthy me. They shine in a way that I shine today. I’m so proud to be able to offer them to you.”
